Sustainability Services
Reduce environmental impacts through sustainable decommissioning.
Companies are pledging to help stop climate change by reducing greenhouse-gas emissions as much as they can. Most businesses find they cannot fully eliminate their emissions, or even lessen them as quickly as they might like. The challenge is especially tough for organizations that aim to achieve net-zero emissions, which means removing as much greenhouse gas from the air as they put into it. Our clients are continually looking for ways to provide a more sustainable environment. And while offsets, such as carbon credits is one option, the demand for carbon credits will be greater than the supply, leading to the price being 6x more expensive than they are today. Action is necessary.
Araza is in a unique position to support clients on their sustainability journey through its technical expertise and customised approach. Through data review and measurements, decommissioning and cloud optimisation, our offering has been successfully delivered to several key clients. We will assist you to do this by simplifying complexity, resolving technical dependencies, migrating content and planning carefully managed decommissioning activities.

Client Stories
Migrating Over 500 Servers to the CloudRead more
Araza was engaged by a large retailer to migrate all of their major workloads (Email, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Box.com and Jira) to the cloud. Araza’s scope also included the planning and delivery of the benefits that were to be achieved by decommissioning the old platforms. As users migrated from the old platforms to the new, Araza engaged with the client’s infrastructure and storage teams, to quickly reduce the infrastructure footprint. Araza was able to decommission 1.5 Petabytes of storage and over 500 servers (a combination of virtual and physical servers). The reduction in this workload enabled the reassignment of a significant number of support staff to more valuable work. The client was also able to make a sizable impact on its commitments to lower its Co2 emissions.

Global Decommissioning For Multiple ToolsRead more
Araza was engaged by a large Australian bank to drive the planning, scheduling and management of the decommissioning program for Exchange 2010, Skype and other legacy collaboration tools. The infrastructure for this was hosted in 5 global locations, with interconnected networks and a user base spread across 34 countries around the globe.
To minimise business disruption, Araza documented and analysed the technical and process dependencies of the existing workload and user base that was to be migrated off the platform ahead of the decommissioning program. Due to complexities in the environment, the deactivation of accounts needed to be staggered to ensure that there was no loss of functionality.
This plan allowed disruptions to be minimised, whilst allowing redundant infrastructure to be decommissioned in a staged manner – saving costs as early as possible, whilst ensuring critical workloads could continue.
